Obituary of Grant Iain Moorhead

June 14, 1977 – Calgary, Alberta

March 22, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

With the greatest of sadness, the family of Grant Moorhead announces his unexpected passing on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the age of 46 years.

Born in Calgary, AB, Grant attended Sir Winston Churchill High School and later went on to become a journeyman in telecommunications. He worked in the industry for 28 years in BC and Alberta, with his last role being the Operations Manager for AFL Telecom in Vancouver.

Grant enjoyed every summer on Vancouver Island at his grandparents’ house, overlooking the Straits of Georgia, boating and playing in the water at the house with the “Big Rock.” He also loved camping trips with the guys in the Okanagan, cuddle time, football, basketball, and track and field.

All who knew Grant appreciated his passion and commitment to his partner Danielle, his family, and many close friends. We all loved his strength of character, common sense, and positive, fun-loving personality. He chose to put the needs of Danielle, family, and friends, ahead of his own and will always be remembered for this.

In addition to his loving partner Danielle, Grant is survived by his mother Marion, sister Gillian Roberts (Colin Roberts), nephews Kai Henry and Quinn Roberts, and numerous extended family in BC, AB, Ontario, Scotland, and England. He is also survived by his many treasured friends and four pets, Jude, Tracker, Casey, and Gigi.

Grant was predeceased by his father Robin Moorhead, his maternal grandparents, John and Betty McLay; and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Jean Moorhead.

A Scottish Wake will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, location to be determined. A Celebration of Grant’s Life will be held at a later date.
