Obituary of Esther Befus

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Esther Befus, at the grand age of 101 years. Born in Calgary, AB, Esther was a lifelong Calgarian, apart from a few of her early years, spent in Crossfield, AB.

Esther was an excellent homemaker and an accomplished baker. Her lemon pie was a family favorite. She loved gardening; her flower beds were always impressive and well-tended. In addition to raising three daughters, Esther also had a lengthy career as a cashier at Woodward’s in Chinook Centre. In her youth, she enjoyed playing baseball and riding horses. She was a lifelong Stampeders supporter and a keen fan of the Blue Jays, and the Flames.

Esther was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Sam, and daughters, Marilyn Romaniuk and Judi Nolin. She is survived by daughter Janis (Tim) McCulloch, son-in-law Jerry Nolin, and grandchildren, Lisa Romaniuk, Ryan Romaniuk, and Tyler (Christine) McCulloch. Esther lived a long and healthy life and will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Esther’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
