Obituary of Fred Keller

August 10, 1941 - Macklin, Saskatchewan

April 15, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Frederick “Fred” John Keller was born on August 10, 1941, in Macklin, SK, and passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the age of 82 years.

Dad grew up in Bodo, Hayter, and Consort before moving to Calgary, where he completed most of his schooling. On May 14, 1960, he met Ruby, the love of his life and they were married for 62 years until her passing on October 16, 2023.

Fred is survived by his daughter Karen (Dwayne), sons, Greg (Jessie) and Brian (Harold); his four grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, (Luke), Spencer (Kassidy), and Braden (Raechel); and his great-granddaughter Lily June. He is also survived by his sister Vicki Keller, his brothers, and sisters-in-law, Dick and Bev Keller, Dave Keller, Laurie Legge, Doug and Gail Keller, Larry and Lori Keller, and Val Stanton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends who were lucky to have called him Uncle Fred.

Fred was predeceased by his father Philip Keller, his mother Francesca Moore, his mother-in-law Elsie Forbes, her husband Donald Forbes, as well as Ruby’s brothers, Donald and Gordon, and their wives, Edie and Donna; nephew Boyd, and niece Heather.

A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to acknowledge the efforts and support of the team at the Foothills Medical Centre. We would also like to express our gratitude to neighbours Christine and Ron Guza, and Connie and Dave Laing, who have been like family to Fred and Ruby.
